In an industry first the Assasn Research and Development Labs present the patented base fabric " CarbonGL9 "
Through our engagement with major actions sports brands and the Special Forces we identified the priority to develop a performance textile which provided the highest tensile strength but was also the lightest weight possible.
Working with our global textile mills we have created an industry first advanced micro-fibre containing the amazing properties of carbon fibre. The physical strength, specific toughness and weight of carbon fibre made it apt raw material to utilise in Carbon GL9, for the first time it has been interwoven and then heat fused into both base fabrics for Carbon GL9 6K Hexagonal and Carbon GL9 4K Diamond fabrics. This unique process gives it high dimensional stability ensuring the fabric doesn't shrink or extend over a period of time. It also has less chance of destruction of the fibres and fabrics, resulting from the abrasion of the textile surface over periods of any physical activity,
workout or action sport you undertake.
Carbon GL9 is a state of the art fabric intelligence - NINE TIMES STRONGER, TWO THIRDS LIGHTER.
The 6K HEAXAGONAL WEAVE is utilised in our Hybrid Boardshort.
This 6 point custom weave and its complexity is the ultimate blend of abrasion resistance, aesthetic appeal and water repellency. Uniquely designed by Assasn for the ultimate crossover fabric that blends both strength, performance and appearance.
This fabric development heroes a hexagonal
( honeycomb ) weave with Polyester spandex yarn.
The Polyester yarn creates comfort parameters, such as air permeability, heat, and moisture transfer. The slightly concave surface of hexagonal weave acts as a barrier to outside moisture delaying it’s penetration to the inside of the fabric and is uniquely designed to bead water on the surface creating a hydrophobic effect.
In an industry first the 6K Carbon GL9 fabric has a reverse side of laminated satin spandex, this ensures that the garment will slide over the skin during any workout or watersport activity. This fabric not only looks good, it sets a new standard of fortitude, performance and comfort.

6K HEAXAGONAL WEAVE
The 4K DIAMOND WEAVE is utilised in our Ultimate Training short.
This high-tech diamond knitting technology ensures extreme comfort, the four points of reference allows the fabric a 360 degree stretch to it’s ultimate capacity and the CarbonGL9 content allows it to return to it’s original shape immediately. This creates a fatigue reducing, compression effect by providing the dual advantages of form and flexibility without the discomfort and restriction of a traditional compression garment.
Due to the extra fabric extension the 4K Diamond Weave allows a higher transfer of moisture from the skin creating a heat transfer zone, which allows air to circulate and aids cooling as soon as you start to sweat, somewhat like your own internal air-conditioning system.
This quick drying fabric innovation is a new benchmark with it's fatigue reducing efficiencies, abrasion resistance and heat dissipation supporting anti-bacterial and anti-odour properties.
